Beulah Stapleton

Mrs. Stapleton's final place of rest is located at Garden of Yonah I, A-15, Space 1. Mrs. Beulah Pitts Cunningham Stapleton, age 73 of Arbor Terrace, Athens, Georgia formerly of Cornelia passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Mt. Airy, Georgia on January 04, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Watson and Sarah Sellers Pitts. Mrs. Stapleton was a Registered Nurse for many years and a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Cornelia where she was actively involved in the J.O.Y. Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Hiram Cunningham, Sr., second husband, James A. Stapleton, Sr., a sister, Jerri Pitts Hendrixson, and a brother, Timothy Pitts. Survivors include her children, Thomas Hiram “Tommy” Cunningham, Jr. & wife, Cindy, of Cornelia, GA; Cary Cunningham Perry & husband, Greg, of Bogart, GA; James A. Stapleton, Jr. & wife, Janis; Susie Stapleton Underwood & husband, Stanley, all of Cornelia, GA; Thomas Stapleton, Waco, TX; brothers, Lamar “Boots” Pitts and Doug Pitts, both of Mt. Airy, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth P. and John Cook, Suwanee, GA and Lisa and Keith Dockins of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, James A. Stapleton, III., Keith Stapleton, Derek Stapleton, Kristy Underwood, Bo Underwood, Zac Underwood, Lauren Stapleton, Jack Perry, Charles Perry, Sean Cunningham, Tyler Cunningham, 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Cornelia with Dr. Eric Spivey, Rev. David Turner, and Mr. Don Bagwell officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday.
