Eleanor Evans

Mrs. Evans'final place of rest is located at Garden of Yonah I, B-23, Space 1. Eleanor Fitzgerald Evans, age 87 of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018. Born on July 10, 1930 in Demorest, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Bessie Fitzgerald. Mrs. Evans was formerly employed with Piedmont College and enjoyed reading and housekeeping in her spare time. She was also a devoted member of her beloved Cornelia Church of Christ. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Evans was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude Marshall Evans, Sr.; sons, Claude Marshall Evans, Jr. and Alen Stamey; daughter, Olivia “Libby” Stamey; special cousin, Helen Daniel. Survivors include son, Richard Webb Wallace of Marietta, South Carolina; brothers, Duran Denny and Don Denny both of South Carolina and Randall Denny of Clarkesville; sisters-in-law, Maggie Evans and Betty Lathan both of Mt. Airy; four grandchildren. Funeral services are 2 pm Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Arthur Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
