Mr. Harris' final place of rest is located at Sunset Hill IV, B-4, Space 4. George Joseph Harris, age 79 of Demorest, passed away Friday, November 04, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Harris was born July 12, 1932 in Habersham County the son of the late William Roscoe and Bertha Jane Seinkbeil Harris. Mr. Harris was an ordained Deacon of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include his wife, Susan Gay Harris, Demorest; sons and daughters in law, George Milton and Lydia Harris, Cleveland; Donald William and Sandy Harris, Cleveland; son, Joseph Lloyd Harris, Panama City Beach, FL; grandchildren, Drew Milton Harris, Drake Alexander Harris, Isaac Lee Harris, Rachel Muriel Harris, all of Cleveland; sisters, Sarah Ferguson, Demorest; Susie York, Clermont; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Bevis Simmons, Winder; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Lisa Harris, Liberty Hill, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 PM Sunday, November 06, 2011 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Milton Harris, the Rev. Telford Tanksley, the Rev. Billy Blocker, and the Rev. Bill Shurrett will officiate. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens, Demorest. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-9 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
