Mr. Colston's final place of rest is located at Garden of Devotion I, G-5, Space 4. MR. HOYT GRADY COLSTON, age 88 of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Born in Habersham County, Georgia on April 07, 1924, he was a son of the late William Monroe & Violet Forrester Colston. Mr. Colston served proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired after 33 years of service as a welder with WEBCO Industries. He also enjoyed spending time on his farm raising cattle. Mr. Colston was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sister-in-laws, Floyd & Florence Colston, Claude & Estelle Colston, Ray & Naomi Colston, and a brother, Chester Colston. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Nora Church Colston; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia & Stanley Perry; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry & Bonnie Colston; all of Demorest, GA; step-mother, Lola Robinson Colston; Alto, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Homer & Jessie Mae Colston, Demorest, GA; sister-in-laws, Dottie Colston, Demorest, GA; Olline Turner, Clarkesville, GA; Sara Church Stuart, LA; grandchildren, Dex & Kim Colston, Sarasota, FL; Libby & Greg Smith, Suwanee, GA; Amber & Michael Dorsey, Cleveland, GA; Dennis & Gail Gravitt, Dawsonville, GA; Bill & Gloria Taylor, Cumming, GA; great-grandchildren, Dexter Colston, Jr., Summer Colston, Carter Smith, Wyatt Dorsey, Garrett Dorsey, Wesley Gravitt, Kelsey Gravitt, and Whitney Bennett, several nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2012 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Pastor Anthony Shore and Rev. Blaine Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post # 7720, American Legion Post # 84, the Rabun County DAV Chapter # 15, and the Georgia National Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 until 8 p.m. on Saturday. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made in Hoyt’s memory to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
