Ione Martha Church

Ms. Church's final place of rest is located at Garden of Devotion I, A-2, Space 4. Ione Martha Church, age 81 of Demorest, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Habersham Medical Center. Born January 17, 1932, she was a daughter of the late James Arnold and Martha Sosebee Church. Ms. Church retired from Piedmont Automotive as a production worker with 47 years of service and she was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for 73 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and the outdoors. In addition to her parents, Ms. Church was also preceded in death by her brothers, Jake, Jim, and William Church and sisters, Ruth Charles, Mary Lou Minyard, and Edith Dover. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are several nieces and nephews and their spouses. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Charles Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 pm Thursday. McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home of Cornelia (706/778-8668) is in charge of arrangements.
