James Michael Cathey

Mr. Cathey's final place of rest is located at Garden of Yonah II, E-9, Space 2. James Michael “Mike” Cathey Sr., age 68 of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Cathey was born December 14, 1944 in Habersham County to the late Conley and Louise Wiggins Cathey. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving as a SeaBee (CB), a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Cathey was a self-employed poultry farmer and a member of Cornelia First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Bondell Cathey, Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike Jr. and LaKeta Cathey, Cleveland; Jason and Whitney Cathey, Cleveland; brothers, Conley Cathey, TX; Bill Cathey, Gainesville; sister, Gail Hicks Nevada; grandchildren, Erin Cathey, Alex Cathey, Jake Cathey, Mattie Blair Cathey; several special nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, February 22, 2013 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens Demorest, GA. The family will receive friends from 6-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
