Mr. Herrin's final place of rest is located at Garden of Yonah II, H-16 A, Space 2 JOHN C. HERRIN, age 79, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2011, following an extended illness. Mr. Herrin was born on June 14, 1931, in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Leonard Lawson and Mary Parthenia Smith Herrin. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Gene Herrin and his sister, Sarah "Sallie" Herrin Barrett. Mr. Herrin was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was also the owner of Midway Electric, which he founded in 1955. Mr. Herrin was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Herrin, Cornelia, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Rick Barron, Demorest, GA; son and daughter-in-law, David and Melannie Herrin, Cornelia, GA; brother, Idus Herrin, Cornelia, GA; and 5 grandchildren, Kyle Barron, Katie Barron, Alex Herrin, Ashten Herrin, and John David Herrin. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia. Burial will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the charity or church of one's choice.
