Mary Stephens

Mrs. Stephens' final place of rest is located at Sunset Hill IV, C-4, Space 3. Mary Ruth Holbrooks Stephens, age 82, of Demorest, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. Born on June 21, 1937, in Mount Airy, Georgia she was a daughter of the late Alex Andrew and Minnie Gertrude Ayers Holbrooks. Mrs. Stephens was owner and operator of Steven’s Feed and Grain. She was a lifelong resident of Habersham County and of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Furman Stephens; brothers: Billy, Raymond, Winford, Andrew “Junior”, and William “Slim” Holbrooks; and sister, Ruby Stamey. Survivors include her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Holbrooks of Baldwin, Louise Holbrooks of Cornelia and Frances Holbrooks; several nieces and nephews. In consideration of public health and safety, a private family graveside service will be held at Yonah Memorial Gardens with Dr. Kenneth Franklin officiating.
