Mrs. King's final place of rest is located at Garden of Prayer, Niche' D-2. NORMA BYRD KING, age 80, of Demorest, Georgia, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014. Mrs. King was born on February 16, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Wyndol Clyde and Ethel George Byrd. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Walter A. Byrd. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cornelia, where she served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir member and was active in many other areas of service. She was retired from The Georgia Baptist Convention with 15 years of service, and was a homemaker. She was a loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She loved the Lord and her family. She was an accomplished artist and also talented in quilting, gardening, and beading. Survivors include her loving Husband of 57 years, Chester King, of Demorest; Daughter and Son-in-law, Carol and Carl Walls, of Lawrenceville; Daughter, Paula King, of Toccoa; Son and Daughter-in-law, Kevin and Michele King, of Acworth, GA; Sister, Phyllis Byrd Shackelford, of Houston, TX; Brother, W.C. (Bill) Byrd Jr., of Houston, TX; Four Grandchildren, Kathryn Elizabeth Glaze, Rebecca Ann Glaze, Jessica Anne King and Jacob Patrick King. Memorial Services are scheduled for Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Cornelia with Dr. Eric Spivey and Rev. David Turner officiating. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2014 and 2:00 pm to the Funeral Hour, on Sunday October 5, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Cornelia.
