Mr. Peterson's final place of rest is located at Garden of Prayer, Back Side, B-3. Warner Robins – Ricky Reed Peterson, age 60, died at home surrounded by his family and immediately entered Heaven on June 8, 2012, after a brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer. A resident of Warner Robins, Georgia, Ricky was born in Athens to parents Albert R. Peterson, Jr. and Amanda Reed on November 3, 1951, and grew up in Bogart, GA. He graduated from Oconee County High School in 1969 as Valedictorian and from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering, cum laude in 1973. On December 21, 1973 Ricky married Elizabeth Ann Ziegler at Bogart Baptist Church in Bogart, GA. He was employed by Robins Air Force Base and has been an active member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church for 31 years. Ricky was a quiet, loving man with a generous spirit. He never wanted to be in the spotlight, but from the background he was a strong leader with great vision, an encourager, a dedicated worker who believed only your best was good enough, and a committed Christian. He lived a life of service and wanted to honor Christ in all he did. More than anything except the Lord, Ricky loved his wife and family. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ann Ziegler Peterson and four children: daughter Tricia Jason Howell of Buford, GA, daughter Sharon Jason Gillespie of Greenville, SC, son Ryan Jennifer Peterson of Winterville, GA, and daughter Laura Peterson of Warner Robins. His six grandchildren are: Emily Howell, Katie Howell, Bryan Howell, Carter Gillespie, William Gillespie, and Hunter Peterson. He is survived by his brother Robert Earl Dawn Peterson of Athens, GA, nieces Stephanie Przestrzelski and Katherine Peterson, and nephew Sam Peterson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 12 from 6pm-8pm, at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will be celebrated at Shirley Hills Baptist Church on Wednesday June 13 at 10:00am. Interment will be held at Yonah Memorial Gardens in Demorest, GA at 5:00pm on Wednesday June 13.
