Tony Sims, age 68, passed away on October 26, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, and love. He is survived by his loving mother, Evelyn Sims, and his sister, Vicki Sims-Skorput.
Tony was born in Demorest on January 21, 1958. He was a hardworking man who spent more than 50 years as a heavy equipment operator and long-distance truck driver. Throughout his career, he traveled countless miles, met people from all walks of life, and collected stories that he loved to share. Tony will be remembered most for his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and larger-than-life personality. He never met a stranger and had a special gift for making people laugh. Whether he was giving someone a playful nickname, telling one of his many funny stories, or sharing a joke, Tony had a way of bringing smiles to those around him. His outgoing, gregarious nature made it easy for him to make friends wherever life took him.
Beyond his humor and colorful personality, Tony had a caring and devoted heart, especially when it came to his mother. As she grew older, he faithfully helped care for her, tending to the yard, maintaining the home, and making sure things were taken care of. His love was often expressed through the everyday things he did for those who mattered most to him.
Tony lived life with humor, a strong work ethic, and a personality that was uniquely his own.
Those who knew him will remember his laughter, his unforgettable stories, his playful teasing, and the nicknames that often stayed with people for a lifetime.
Although his presence will be deeply missed, the laughter he inspired and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Tony's life reminds us that one of the greatest gifts we can leave behind is the ability to make others smile and Tony certainly gave that gift generously.
