Mr. Masters' final place of rest is located at Garden of Remembrance II, B-5, Space 2. VERNON "ZEKE" MASTERS, age 85, of Alto, Georgia passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013, at a local area hospital following a sudden illness. Mr. Masters was born in Banks County, Georgia on April 5, 1928, to the late Clyde and Maude Roberts Masters. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Avis Watkins and Geraldine King. Mr. Masters was a retired saw miller. Survivors include wife, Vienna Wiley Masters, Alto; daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and James Canup, Alto; sisters, Leona Shore, Cornelia, Willie Seay Dodd, Banks County, Vionna Thomas, Eatonton and Josalou McEntire, Cornelia; one grandson, James Gregory "Greg" Canup and his fiancé Debbie Lynn Blalock; two great-granddaughters, Katrina Ansley and Tiffany Brown; five great-great- grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Bobby Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
